A Vinyasa Flow

There is something magical in a vinyasa flow.
Vinyasa means to place things in a special way, a sacred way.
Things become sacred when we live with consciousness, when we move with consciousness.
When our breath is synchronized with our movements. When we keep awareness of breath at all times.
In a vinyasa flow, we stand upright as a statement of being present; We rise on an inbreathe and we fold with the out-breath.
We open and close, reach up and bow down, we lengthen against gravity and we surrender to gravity.
The sequence goes through Downward facing dog where the head drops in humility.
Where we can switch to our inner experience, our inner landscape. Where we can allow our breaths to slow down.
Where we can rest and charge again.
The sequence ends in a mountain pose. Standing tall we are ready to begin again.
We move in a rhythm. A special rhythm, that represents all the rhythms and sequences of life.
Sun and moon, earth and sky, and all the seasons; Spring, summer, fall, winter.
Breath and breath. All that we are. A motion that has no beginning, no end.
Just a smooth transition from one motion to the other. A seamless fusion of beauty and intelligence.
A life lived in one flow.
A famous quote by Krishnamacharya is: “Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with you.
Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.”
