Emotional Distress Alert

Dear friends💜

Boaz and I have been seeing a family therapist as part of the rehabilitation process that my son is in.

On our last meeting Yael, the therapist gave us an idea of what goes on at the rehab facility.

One thing Yael shared that was especially touching, was a big gong placed outside. This gong can be heard throughout the buildings. If one is experiencing emotional distress, one is welcome to hit the gong. Once the gong is heard, people leave whatever they were doing, come immediately and form a circle of love around the one asking for help.
This, of course, requires the ability of one to acknowledge the fact that he/she is in need of help and to be able to actively ask for it, to call for help asking others to pause their activity as their support is needed at this very minute. This is a brave action done by the one in need… . This is also an opportunity for others to offer their support, to give and share unconditional love.

Would it be nice if each community had a similar alert system?
Can we form one for ourselves?
And the most important question is whether we would allow ourselves to “hit the gong” to be vulnerable, to be real…? Would you?

I do hope that you know that I am HERE for you…phone call away🙏💜

  1. The, “Gong,” idea. What a beautiful and loving way to be present and supportive for one another. Thank you, Nurit, for reaching out, with thoughtful words, acceptance …and vulnerability, to all of us in our yoga community. You are a blessing! Your words provide thoughts for meditation, for which I am grateful. I want you to know how precious and loved you are and that I am always HERE for you as I know you are for me, and once again, I am grateful.
    With love, Frankie

  2. Very touching and something to ponder. Allowing oneself to ask for help and be vulnerable is hard for anyone and especially hard for someone who is already suffering. Yet others really do want to help. Helping others is a way to also help yourself. Thanks for being there for whoever needs help. Similarly, you can count on me! Wishing strength and healing to your son.
    Namaste.! Linda
